Basin Trend Setter 6074 is a very attractive herdsire prospect from the Basin Angus herd. We looked at a lot of bulls in the spring of 2005 and with out a doubt he was phenotypically the best bull we saw anywhere. His growth data indicated that he is in the top 30% of the breed for WW, top 25% for YW, and top 4% for Milk. His ultrasound data indicated that he will be above average for REA by recording 1.3 square inches of ribeye per 100lbs. His dam is a donor from Basin and comes from a long line of donors including their foundation donor Basin Primrose 258. Basin Trend Setter 6074 is backed by a sire that has been used very successfully in Canada and is an outcross that many have thought need more use. Unfortunately his sire is dead and semen is very rare and so everyone has been looking for the son to replace him and we think this is the one. Darrel Stevenson was quoted as saying “6074 was the best bull red or black in Stevenson's 2005 spring sale.” At Origen after the sale a whole lot of Angus breeders asked “who's that Red Bull” and staff told us 6074 had a lot of interested lookers. He was the top selling Red Angus in the 2005 Spring sale season at $41,000.
